The shuttle always used one track to terminate on. The BMT trains were physically isolated from the IND trains. Anything that ran on the Culver shuttle had to enter the line from 9th Ave. Before the line was reduced to a single track, there was a switch a few hundred feet west on the Culver structure allowing trains to access the northbound track.



I am not sure when the Manhattan bound track, and this switch, was physically removed.
