"On the LIRR, people are instructed to move forward to get off at Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, and St Albans."I always find this puzzling. The LIRR rule is clear-- no moving between cars while the train is moving. The conductors should not be advising passengers to violate this rule on a regular basis. That undermines the logic and authority of the rule. The announcement should be, "Please move forward while we are at the next stop," or before the train leaves, "Move forward now; you can't change cars while the train is moving." |
