-You're not looking where you're walking and step into the gap between cars, rather than the adjacent anticlimber.

-You're not paying attention to where your hands or fingers are, and leave them in the path of a fast-closing storm door.

-Due to elevation differences in the tracks at some stations, the adjacent anticlimber may be higher than the first, creating a 'step' which you may not notice. At a darker underground station, this is more likely.

-Train suddenly starts to move while you're inbetween the cars, causing a jolt, and for you to lose your balance. After all, if the train was stationary, why would you even think to grab the handle bars? Perhaps you fall over and bang your head into the storm door, and collapse to the floor. No one will see you or know that you're out there, and after a few curves, you may fall off the train completely, and that'll finish you.

It's also annoying and unsafe for the conductors at their operating position.
