The interesting question is why this particular station got a modern, concrete high level platform to begin with. Stations on the Rockaway Beach line like Parkside and Brooklyn Manor got wooden platforms, and they probably had lots more patronage. The Richmond Hill station as it exists today had to have been built after the Jamaica Ave. el was erected, so any pre-subway ridership most likely was gone by then.
