The LIRR was still it's own private company back then, as well as the BMT. You are thinking in terms of a merged public company, and of course back then they were both private competing companies. Not to mention, in the 1920's, I am sure not only did they run a lot more passenger trains on that line, there must have been a lot more passengers using it too. |
