They're antiquated. The boxcar style is over. Corrugations are not a good look for a subway car, particulary those that cover the entirely outer body--partial corrugation on a rapid transit rail car is an minor aesthetic improvement. With this poor imitation of boxcars, those R32's are almost as ugly as those Slants.
