Re: “Amtrak Joe” visiting Bear DE to promote $16 billion for NEC and adjacent passenger rail projects

New York City Transit
doesn't have Rapid transit lines running on Expressway medians.

The Port Authority, however,Does, via the Air train Viaduct over the Van Wick Expressway... and next to the Belt Parkway Nassau Expressway from the Howard Beach station.
Both routes Originally planned for the IND second system, and extensions future projects.

The use of highways for rail service was stopped cold by Robert Moses and his Anti Transit group,in what was considered a racial motive to keep people of limited means from easily accessing the suburban communities.

This practice is Still being carried out by the MTA in some manner,by it's Fare Policy, the refusal to build rapid transit further along pretty obvious extensions to reach the City Boarders.. and creating transit lines to cover the gaps in "transit desserts".

Connectivity, replacing aging infrastructure, and building new routes..a priority less focused on the subway, and given the stamp of approval for the suburban community.

However,as of late, the new governor has stepped up, and decided to move along a project that languished in limbo for decades.
I'm looking at this move as a bone tossed to voters..
The new line would be the largest piece of additional mileage added to the system in decades, the last being the Rockaway Line of the 1950s.

However, the MTA took away a vital piece of subway extension, but added the route to its railroad plans.

The Penn Access route was originally part of a Second Avenue Subway Bronx Extension coming from the south, to reach north east Bronx.

The line will now be a extension from the New Haven Line from Connecticut, through the same area the SAS would have traveled, with the same stops.

And since this is a railroad, the Bronx portion of the Triboro RX (IBX, now) has been cancelled due to space constraints.

This is Pure Politics.
Flat out.

The MTA has a 20 year plan, and it is Seriously lacking in anything substantial for city riders, but chock full of benefits for the Suburban communities to access the city.

It's time New York City woke up to the complete misdirection this "Authority" has been playing around with, and get rid of it.

We need an agency that is going to look out for Our best interest, give us the transportation system we Need, and the connectivity we deserve.

We honestly need the separation of NYCT and the Railroad systems, or fully integrate them with hybrid technology.

We cannot continue this unfair mismanagement, unbalanced and highly favored towards the Suburban lifestyles of the rich and famous... while the city that never sleeps gets the shaft.

Some thing needs to be done, and done quickly.
