Dunno how many of you went to the Transit Exhibit in Grand Central recently, but the previous exhibit was about Metro North's birthday. As part of the exhibit, they had a computer graphic video showing the IBX proposal. They did indeed propose expanding the route south of New Rochelle to 4 tracks, though I don't remember if they extended that to the Hell Gate bridge. What concerns me, though, is that Amtrak has taken advantage of the extra space to smooth out the curves along the route. Does that mean that the MTA will be taking more land, or will Amtrak have to move the location of the tracks? |
