Do it in another location away from a cross. If St James Church with a big cross in front of it stood right across from the WTC and somehow didn't get destroyed on 911, and it was standing there over one of the fountains, it would be no different of a tenent that you couldn't pray there, so you would have to move to another spot out of view of it I supposed. Also not the government's issue. |

The point I was making is that no one can control "who" will be offended, or if the reason for the offense is religion itself. It's not "the government's" fault that some religious people are "offended", that's the RELigious tenent that the government has no control over, nor should it. I never said "if the majority isn't offended, then no one should be". That's something YOU came up with. I DID say that it's not the fault of other people outside a particular religion if one religion has a religious issue with something. That's unfortunately something they have to deal with if that's the religion they are a part of. It's no one's fault. For example, most of the major religions have extremely orthodox sects (that goes for Christian, Muslim, and Jewish) where clothing is a real issue. They have to dress a certain way, but more so they shouldn't be around people that aren't dressed that way (again in extreme sects). So that would make it a problem for some of them to show up at "the memorial" (or anywhere for that matter) where let's say people are dressed in hot July summer clothing. That's not the problem of all the people there that don't have those beliefs, that's an issue the people of that particular religion have. |

You've been waving amendment one in our faces, get called out on it, and start waving 14. Even though using your interptiation of 14, it still does not do what you want it to do unless the courts interptiate it that way, and they, last time I checked, have no problem with a private museum dispalying anything anywhere. 14 is applied case by case section by section. the first amendment wasn't applied to the states until 1923 in Gitlow v. New York. I have a BA in politcal science. I can shoot holes in poltical arguments all day. |
