According to "Good Cop, Bad Cop", Brentwood went to hell in the 70's. That's where Michael Dowd was from.I find Brentwood to be fine around the LIE exit. When you get close to the railroad station, it goes to hell, and every storefront is either a criminal attorney's office, Iglesia Pentecostal, or one of those 24/hr laundromats. I'd imagine that the people who are making Brentwood bad, rely heavily on public transportation, which explains why the area near the train got so bad. |

Cops arrested a man today who is suspected of killing four people Sunday at a Long Island pharmacy, according to law-enforcement sources.The identity of the suspect was not released by Suffolk County police, although he was arrested and led out in handcuffs at about 10:30 a.m. at the Medford home owned by David Laffer, 33. Another man was also taken into police custody at the same time for questioning. His identity was also not immediately known. The house had been under police surveillance since last night, sources said. Sources told The Post that Laffer does have a military background, although it remains unknown whether he is the man who unleashed the massacre at Haven Drugs Pharmacy before walking out with a bag loaded with prescription painkillers. The arrest comes three days after a man walked into the pharmacy and killed four people. On Monday, cops released stunning footage showing the baseball-capped fiend first strolling into the tiny mom-and-pop shop at about 10:20 a.m. Sunday, only minutes after druggist Raymond Ferguson, 45, had opened up the Southaven Avenue store along with a cashier, 17-year-old Bellport HS senior Jennifer Mejia. Mejia wasn't supposed to be working that day -- her sister, also an employee, had already taken the day off. But Mejia volunteered to cover Father's Day for an older male co-worker who has kids. She and Ferguson were standing behind the drug counter when the nervous, scrawny robber -- an addict hunting his drug of choice, oxycodone -- opened a door to the enclosed area where they were and entered. Without hesitation, the deranged druggie then "executed the workers" in cold blood, a law-enforcement source said. Then, within minutes, two unsuspecting store patrons entered the shop. Byron Sheffield, a 71-year-old grandpa, had come in to get his usual prescription. Jamie Taccetta, a 33-year-old physical therapist and mother of two, was making a quick pit stop at the shop to pick up thyroid medication. Taccetta's fiancé -- whom she was set to marry Oct. 15 -- was waiting for her in their car outside in the parking lot. The gunman -- a weasly figure sporting a backpack, beard and sunglasses -- calmly walked to the front of the shop, where Taccetta was standing at a counter and Sheffield was in a nearby aisle. The killer then pumped a single bullet into the back of the head of Taccetta without saying anything, her family said. And still without uttering a word, he shot Sheffield, too. The DPK radio navigation aid is actually near the Pilgrim State Psychiatric Hospital in Brentwood. I plan to head over to that area sometime over the next few weeks as part of my ongoing research of VOR/DMEs and TACANs. I will not be there as part of my Violent Crime Study (VCS) of Nassau/western Suffolk which is approaching final draft completion but I am thinking of going over to Farmingdale to see the airplanes flying around. I'm just glad I'll be using my car which is a safe mode of transportation. |

It is 69.6% white, and the median value of a home there is $353,009North Lindenhurst abuts Wyandanch on the north (a mostly black neighborhood), North Copaigue on the west (A mostly Black Neighborhood), West Babylon on the south and east (fairly black neighborhood as it gets close to Wyandanch) 69.9% white is quite low for most LI neighborhoods, so it sits closer to Wyandanch than you are making it sound. It's "the hood". |

Did you know that people resist arrest hoping to make arresting officers fuck up and lose their cool, in front of someone who is recording the arrest? The names on the signs are not for where you are gettign off, but WHERE the road goes that you are getting off at. If you get off of the Rt 135 it will say "Seaford or Syosett, and if you are doing that on the LIE, your are no where near either of those towns at the point you get off. If you get off the LIE at Exit 64, Route 112, it will say "Port Jefferson-Patchogue". But you are in Medford. |

Depends, Patchogue is 11772, but that zip code covers North patchogue, Patchogue, and East patchogue. All three are distinct. North Patchogue is north of Sunrise. Patchogue is south of Sunrise, and East Patchogue is east Route 101. They are all distinct, even if they have the same zip. You HAVE to put "East Patchogue" on an envelope when you are mailing a letter, as you have "Maple Ave" in Patchogue, and you have a "Maple Ave in East Patchogue. In fact, there's also one in North Patchogue. None of those streets connect to eachother or have anything to do with eachother. For it to get to the right "Maple Ave" you have to put the East, North, or nothing in front of Patchogue. There are MANY streets like this with the same name. So "zip code" doesn't determine that.You used Glendale in your other example, and Glendale is 11385, and Ridgewood is 11385, yet they are DISTINCT. You KNOW when you are in Glendale, and you KNOW when you are in Ridgewood, even though they have the same zip code. Names aren't always determined by zip code. |
