Almost half.That's because only the most able Chinese make it out of China. So people of Chinese ancestry who live in the US are not representative of all people of Chinese ancestry. Not to mention the cultural effect - the Chinese culture encourages a level of hard work that the American culture does not. I have had Chinese-Amercian colleagues who got themselves to technical positions by pure work effort that then they didn't have the inherent ability to sustain. |

It's probably just a very small percentage, but the fact that they use the blogosphere as a sounding board makes their numbers seem much larger than they really are. Horrible. I don't think she's ugly, but I know it bothers black women tremendously that their men love white women, but the feeling is not mutual(white men don't find most black women attractive). Same for white men finding it easy to get an Asian woman, but not as easy for an Asian man to get a white woman.I'm sure affirmative action has helped the Obama's along the way. Black women were not happy about the black male/white female phenom, which has kind of gone underground again b/c of the backlash in the black community. Maybe white men find black women attractive, but are afraid to approach them. But it's obvious that black male/white female combos are far more commoon than white male/black female. White male/asian female could be the most popular interracial combo. |

According to government estimates black male/white female marriages outnumber white male/black female ones by about 3:1. This ratio has been largely unchanged all the way from the 1990 Census to estimates made within the last few years. Among couples living together outside of marriage, the ratio is more like 10:1. One bit of caution, the federal government is inconsistent in the way it classifies Hispanics, and some non-insignificant share of the white women married to/living with black men may actually be Hispanic. If the black women who comment in the blogosphere are representative of their group as a whole, the reason why white male/black female marriages and relationships are uncommon is not so much that white men find black women unattractive, but rather that black women find white men unattractive. Yellow and jungle fever are considered the acts of men that somehow can't hook up with decent white chicks. I've known plenty of black women that have no interest in white men. And many that do have an interest only have one because they have been hurt by black men. In general I'd say that white women are more into black men than black women are into white men. |
