And no sore winner here, I *knew* this would happen, and KNEW that once the crap was over it would be time to get to work. You seem to be the one who's still writhing now that Germany has WON ... as you prefer to think of it. Already, the rest of the planet is happy to see America getting ready to restore itself, put aside its stupid swagger and get down to the business of an entire planet again. But yeah, what you've been selling is done. So time for you to decide if you're an American ready to get involved, or whatever you seem to keep carrying on with. As far as I'm concerned, the old game of dividing people and preying on fear is OVER ... time to get to work. So are you "with us? Or against us?" :) |

It was nice knowing you.And it turns out that the Democrats were only grossly overestimated in a handful of states, Georgia and Alaska primarily...and some races were never really races at all (NM went blue by 15 percent, and PA was won by double-digits (10 and change) for Obama...the tightest race in the Northeast along with New Hampshire, if 10 can be called tight. But the biggest surprise one had to see coming was North Carolina, home of the closet Democrat in NASCAR country, and the only state that was once listed as a solid McCain state that Obama wound up winning (by about 15,000 votes), IINM. McCain was gracious in defeat, but he needs to rip his party a new one on Friday...and as for Colorado, that state is going to be blue for years to come, completing the sweep that started in 2006. Others are less certain, especially if Obama fails to live up. Voters in the moderate South have spoken...don't F this up! |

Indiana, Missouri, and NC are just so close, it's gotta be frustrating. But what can the Republicans do? I mean, with technology, early voting, exclusive use of absentee ballots in some states, we're entering an age where more people will vote, which means young people will have much more of a voice. They can't keep moving further to the right. |

Fox has called Indiana for Obama, BTW.As for ballots, IMO, the Democrats, in spite of winning, should mandate a new standard for ballot machines: Mark-sense machines (similar to the so-called Scantron), where one fills out a car marked with the "answers", the answers being the candidates to choose. Insert card, and the machine prints the results on a paper tape that can then be used to verify any disputes. I was going to say this, win or lose for Obama. HAVA is broken, even in an Obama win. |

That is exactly what has happened...it appears to be much closer popular-vote wise. Republicans have simply concentrated in too many places. But I'm surprised that Bush (Herbert Walker) and Dole won more popular votes, but lost their elections to Bill Clinton in landslides. The rules, however, have changed. Women will figure prominently into voters' minds next time. |

Watch McCAIN get offered "Secretary of Defense" ... it'd be a BOLD and very WISE move, and McCain would be stupid not to take it if it's actually offered. From all the emails which have been flooding this box since the "results" from both my military, security, and friend contacts, looks like Obama wants to extend the offer to "fix this shit" to anyone willing to come on board in a bipartisan way. And McCain DID offer in his speech to "help in any way I can." Now THERE is the 2000 McCain I wanted to vote for before Shrub and his D'Amato friends took it off the table for THIS republican. I only wish they HADN'T phucked McCain. When his campaign was in the shitter, he got the old 2000 religion going again and then came Rove, Faux and all the other assholes to torpedo his battleshit. (reference to Harold and Kumar scene there)No, McCain SAW the reality, and as I've always indicated, I *WOULD* have voted for him were it not for that ball and chain "Assemblies of God" whore ... that completely sank his battleshit in MY eyes. McCain was NEVER beholden to the lunatics, but in the end he pandered to them and therefore Ryder had no choice but to turn his sox into a shoe beam on the third rail in Pelham 1-2-3. :( I would NOT vote for the 2008 McCain, but in the last days he reverted to the OLD John McCain, and for THAT, he has my undying respect for going out as the old "maverick" I once respected. And I *truly* think that he would be a TREMENDOUS help (if offered) in the Obama adminstration since he DOES know his military shit ... lessee what happens, based on the rumors in email I heard tonight ... |

I say McCain declines, so that his party doesn't lose its filibuster-proof majority. Currently, McCain, Snowe (Maine Republican repping a strong Democrat state), and Collins (same as Snowe) are the keys. If McCain is nominated, that leaves the Maine moderate Republicans as the keys to a filibuster for the Republicans, something that they do not want. |

Heh.As far as filibuster goes, I *want* that to remain an option. Despite Obama's kind mention of the 106 year old WOMAN from Atlanta, he STILL has refused to take a stand on SEXISM, and all the nasty shit Donna Brazile and the "blog-bombers" dropped on PUMA and the Hillary supporters throughout the campaign. Had Obama apologized for the sexism and the refusal to pay women on his staff the SAME amount he paid penises, then he COULD have broken 60% of the vote in his favor. BIGGEST mistake Obama EVER made was to not apologize to those Hillary supporters. The wife voted for Cynthia McKinney over this. :( McCain DID make an offer, Obama SHOULD consider it and appoint him to a major position - if not SD, then perhaps NATO or some other options. Sure the governor of AZ is a democrat, but somehow given the YEOMAN work McCain did this year, and KNOWING what the ego of a politician is, if *I* were him, much like Hillary, if something BETTER and more involved were offered, last thing I'd want to do is go back to being a clocker on the minority side of the house. McCain's ego could be stroked, Obama's ego could be stroked and more importantly, AMERICA would have VALID expertise to help guide us out of the harbor, to sea. I think McCain would be a TREMENDOUS asset ... and I *believe* that his patriotism is real and would likely TAKE it. Assuming it's actually OFFERED.
