There are two important points. The obvious one is that she was unprepared to answer an unexpected but easy question. Perhaps, presidential candidates should be required to pass a civics test. I doubt she would have received any points for that answer on a NYS High School American History Regents Test. The more troubling point is her attempt to shift the blame from herself to Democrats. From the linked article: Haley said on Thursday she thought the questioner was "definitely" planted by Democrats to trip her up. "The same reason he didn't tell the reporters what his name was, the same reason he went and showed the guy that he was with the tweet that went up after he did it," Haley said. "We see these guys when they come in, we know what they're doing." That's the wrong attitude in a leader. She's obviously not heeding Mayor LaGuardia's attitude: "When I make a mistake it's a beaut." |

South Dakota's statistics are not all that remarkable. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/stats_of_the_states.htm Noem has been governor since 2019. Use this link to compare SD to other states between 2019 and the latest available year. There's very little difference between SD and NYS, that would justify your opinion of her performance. |

I am focusing on jobsEverything matters. Jobs (pay, difficulty, and enjoyability of the work), affordability, health care, weather, stuff to do, education (if you have kids). And of course different people give different weights to those factors. So I personally love Manhattan because it gives me all of those* except good affordable education, which doesn't affect me. But others obviously have a different point of view. * I admit to being very fortunate in terms of my situation being affordable. |

Cars are very dangerous and a huge part of almost everyone's lives, but per hour of use they are very safe. Guns could be so much safer per hour of use than they actually are. |

I could only cast a very reluctant vote for Haley if she somehowbecomes the GOP standard bearer. Of course I would have to do that because the guy in there now is as putrid a president and person as there is. Haley got on my shit list when she refused to mention slavery even once as a cause of the Civil War. She was all over the place with boilerplate answers that were pathetic. Fred to Haley....SLAVERY WAS THE MAIN CAUSE OF THE CIVIL WAR AND IF SHE WOULD PICK UP ANY HISTORY BOOK OF THAT PERIOD SHE WOULD SEE IT IN BLACK AND WHITE. Now when war broke out the great Lincoln's first agenda was to save the Union, but within a year he quickly came to the conclusion that as part of the rebellion by those filthy Confederate bastards, that slavery had to go as well----which Lincoln came to welcome since he was abnormally anti slavery. After Antietam which I suppose could be considered a Union victory since Lee pulled out and recrossed the Potomac River back into Virginia, Lincoln proclaimed the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation to become final on Jan. 1, 1863, if the South did not lay down arms. I'm sorry to drone on like this but I know there are people on this board who seem to subscribe to what Haley said. I didn't and don't. She screwed big time. |

Unfortunately, in place like New York, out here in Los Angeles, SF, Chi Town, Philly, and many places in the US people are living pay check to pay check, and some have trouble paying rent, buying groceries, getting gas for their car or even finding suitable housing.Good you're doing fine AIM. Always good to know of people who can be grateful for their good fortune as you and me and my wife are. Just hope I don't get some bad news about that in an hour or so. |
