Military assault rifles can do fully-automatic fire and three round burst, and have already been banned with minimal exception for civilian use since the 80s (only older rifles may be re-sold, and there is a huge tax penalty on the sale). Beto wants to confiscate AR-15s. AR-15s are not military assault rifles. They are semi-automatic rifles that look similar to military rifles but are functionally equivalent to many hunting rifles. It would be the equivalent of banning "civilian ownership of military vehicles" but also banning the sale of Hummers or Jeeps because they look similar to military vehicles when you take the doors off. Beto has no chance in hell but if this nonsense infects the Democratic campaign platform, prepare for Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to go red. |

All the Republicans did was copy what worked, which was Obama's plan. Republicans likely didn't want their own base to realize that they were just copy-pasting Obama's policies instead of building a wall, so they talked it up to disguise it as if it was their own. Since some left-leaning media organizations (mainly CNN and internet-only publications) write stories starting from the premise "everything Trump does is wrong" and working backward from there, they wound up poisoning it all on their own. Bad journalism caused this. |

Run a program where you bring in one 30 round (or whatever size) magazine and receive a corresponding number of smaller magazines in exchange. But only if NOTHING ELSE changes. No registries, no red flag laws, no banning specific guns (toss the laws preventing legal purchase of AR-15 style rifles in states like NY and CT). Also, give us nationwide reciprocal shall-issue concealed carry. |

We have those.I'm not sure how you prevent someone from buying a weapon and simply handing it to someone even if you make all forms of that illegal, other than stronger laws regarding illegal possession of a weapon (which I also support). As long as legal possession of a weapon isn't unduly infringed ("may-issue" permits are unduly infringed). Singapore has a nicely extreme approach to illegal arms dealers: if you are in possession of two or more illegal firearms, you are trafficking weapons and receive a mandatory un-appealable death sentence. No gun problem there. |

You can have a firearm with 10 in the magazine, One in the Chamber, and carry an additional 10 magazines with you. Magazines can be swapped out and under a second if you know what you're doing, so that literally makes no sense limiting the amount of rounds in a magazine. |
