Actually, it's bad, since Wal Mart is where you shop when you are poor. If you can't even afford Wal Mart...

Now that I work in retail, I can see the horrific economy up close. It's not good.

I went to Walmart last night. Needed fabric softener(yes I'm doing my own laundry again).

It's close, ample parking, and it's fabric softener. When you buy clothing from Walmart, it's "inferior good". I think.

I was comparing Whole Foods paper towels and toilet paper prices to Walmart and really, they were the about same price. But the Whole Foods is quality of a name brand while Walmart is lower quality, like you'd find at a McDonald's restroom.

Actually, according to the Reuters story, the problem is that Walmarts are out in the sticks generally where governments just didn't have the money to keep up with the snowstorms so well *AND* the GOp cut food stamps and since Walmart made half their dollar on food sales, if the poor can't afford food anymore, then Walmart ain't gonna be making the street.

There's what happened.

How was your electric and heating bill this past winter? It went down right?

Did your employer give you a raise to help pay off those higher expenses so you would have some "discretionary income" to spend?

Those poorer folks who depend on SNAP? Did they have any income to spend in the store after paying a lot more to feed their kids?

Welcome to the republican economy and mindset, this is how it works. :(

Walmart requires "exclusive" on what they sell. Go to Walmart, check out some stuff (ANY stuff) and get the model number or UPC code. Then go somewhere else and check those. They won't be the same.

I'm impressed that Walmart charges the same price because they always skimp on what they order compared to what those same manufacturers sell elsewhere.

You're neglecting the insane overuse of the filibuster in the Senate. The republicans have been obstructionists since day 1. Face it, the voters elected the Democratic party because they have had enough of RWers. Had it not been for gerrymandering and a slew of voter supesson laws we may still have Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress. Remember that the RWers are nothing more than a noisy majority, maybe one quarter of the voting population.

fiogf49gjkf0d
Actually, the Republicans never filibustered anything. They would threaten to filibuster, and then the Democrats would retract or water down whatever bill was being discussed. The Republicans never had any power at all, but the Democrats voluntarily decided to pretend that they did. I distinctly recall Obama himself declaring that he refused to let the Democrats pass any health care reform bill unless it had "bipartisan" support, and we all know how well that went.

While voter suppression and gerrymandering have given the Republicans a significant edge, I think the defining factor in the 2010 midterms, if not the 2012 election was the simple fact that the Democrats never actually did any of the things they had promised to simply because the Republicans said a certain f-word. The Democrats could have changed the rules to remove the filibuster, or they could have merely called the Republicans' bluff— a real filibuster is hard to sustain (they'd get tired or hungry eventually) and they'd earn the ire of the nation while doing so since even CNN would have a hard time spinning that.

But no; the Democrats retracted every proposal the Republicans threatened to filibuster, and so the nation went to the polls in 2010 with a choice between the Democrats who made empty promises and refused to deliver despite having complete control of government, and the Republicans who didn't do any clearly bad things in the last two years and it's not like Americans are known for their long-term memory.

"Incompetent" works, but I prefer "coward." When you refuse to pass your agenda because the irrelevant minority party doesn't like it, that makes you a coward.

A nicer person would say that Obama wasn't a coward, he was just genuinely incompetent at politics and failed to understand that trying to convince the Republicans to see reason was as futile as trying to convince certain SubChatters, and when the populace votes to give you complete control of government on the strength of certain policies you've proposed, your obligation is to those voters who put you in power and not to the irrelevant minority party they kicked out of power to put you there.

But I'm not a nicer person, so I'm going with "coward."

Had even half of the liberal agenda promised in 2008 actually been enacted, you would have noticed. For example, this thread wouldn't exist because the economy would have genuinely recovered by now.

LOL!

Another example of Conservative obstructionist denial syndrome.
even used jokingly..its sad to behold.

but to answer you..the "filibuster" was recently used by the SENATE REPUBLICAN to block a bill that would increase federal minimum wage to at least $10.10 an hour...meanwhile 63-75 percent of the people thought and think that a increase would be welcomed.
