I'm sorry, the faulty wiring in the empty fuel tank argument just doesn't jive very well with me. Also, I remember Kevin posted on here a few years ago that he felt that there were some "interesting" people that were on board that flight, and not "interesting" in a way that the US Government would be all warm and fuzzy about them. |

Being pilots doesn't make them qualified to figure out what a plane exploding looks like.Being a pilot makes them much more credible regarding things that they see in the sky. And I think that a few reported seeing a missile. Or maybe I saw that on one of those conspiracy shows. |

Ah, that's interesting. Suppose you want to hurt China without being checked out by China. If China wasn't going to be checking them out because they weren't staying there, that could be an explanation. Maybe their faces would have possibly been recognized if they had done this on a domestic Chinese flight. |

Apparently they have found the video of the stolen passport persons going through security. Could be something, could be nothing. As you point out, there are many reasons to use stolen passports. When I first heard about this I thought that terrorism was an unlikely scenario. Now it seems a bit more likely than it did then. Sounds like they may have found some/all of the plane in the water if the latest I'm seeing is accurate. -- maybe we'll know something more when the sun comes up. |

Conspiracy theorists severely overestimate the power of the United States government to conceal secrets.I agree, when it involves people acting outside their job description. If Navy personnel accidentally (or deliberately) shot down the plane, someone would have talked, because many people would have known whose jobs did not generally involve clandestine activity. What I could believe is that the pilot of KAL 007 was paid by the CIA to deliberately violate Soviet airspace so that the US could monitor how the Soviets would react to such an incursion. That is a secret that only very few people need ever have known. |

However, this plane didn't send out even that...and both the A330 and the B777 are fly-by-wire aircraft. As such, I can only think of one other possibility other than terrorism...that a member of the cockpit crew intentionally crashed the plane. |

Ms Benjaporn initially reserved one of the men on a Qatar Airways flight and the other on Etihad. But the tickets expired when Ms Benjaporn did not hear back from Mr Ali. When he contacted her again on Thursday, she rebooked the men on the Malaysia Airlines flight through Beijing because it was the cheapest available. Ms Benjaporn booked the tickets through China Southern Airlines via a code share arrangement. A friend of Mr Ali paid Ms Benjaporn cash for the tickets, she said, adding that it was quite common for people to book tickets in Pattaya through middle men such as Mr Ali, who then take a commission. |

OK, if she booked via Beijing just because it was the cheapest available and not at the request of the customer, then these people were not terrorists. They were probably attempted illegal immigrants into the EU.The plane might (or might not) still have been brought down by a bomb, of course. |

Not unusual. When you place a cell call, the cell carrier side of the house picks up the call, and then re-rings once it has identified the nearest tower. It's not unusual to hear a couple of rings, then more rings that sound slightly different before you get your call through. If no connection can be made, the call should go to voicemail on domestic calls, but if the terminating point is another carrier in another country, it may go differently. |

Even more interesting for anyone who cares, our military has indicated that there was no sign of any explosion from any of our satellites, and if there HAD been one, it definitely would have shown up now that the data has been reviewed from that area. So apparently an explosion was not part of what happened there. |

Scooped up by a UFO is about as good as any explanation I'm hearing on some of the forums. :)Latest theory is that it turned left, went west over the peninsula but there's a radar station there and they didn't see it either. The new search area though is to the west of the Malaysian peninsula and about six times the size of the original search area. They claimed the other day that they'd picked up an ELT signal but that's the last I heard of that. So Langoliers it is! |

The only thing that has me wondering is, where could presumptive hijackers land a plane that large? Big commercial jets need VERY long runways, ground support facilities, staff, and fuel. I can't imagine any airport along this plane's flight path that could be completely in the hands of the bad guys.Of course, a rogue organization, like SPECTRE, just might have hacked a runway out of the jungle...LOL...where's 007 when you need him? |

It's on the bottom of the Indian Ocean or the Gulf of Thailand. There can't have been enough hijackers on board to successfully completely dominate the passengers. So as soon as they got somewhere with cell phone service passengers would have been making calls. |
