Yes, they should.This is why I believe that political campaigns should be 100% taxpayer funded and lobbying should be legally curtailed to the extent constitutional. There is also the matter that even if you consider it wrong for a company to do that, they're going to do it anyway. You can't rely on so-called "good corporate citizens" to improve society. Of course, if consumers decide that a company should be rewarded for being a good corporate citizen, then that would be good for the bottom line and there would be no need for the government to get involved, but unfortunately it won't work like that all the time. |

You should SEE what's in those contracts under the "morals clauses" and see what you can't do and keep your show. :(And the lawyers have only gotten worse over the years for all the stupid boilerplate prohibitions they keep adding to them. Back in our time, it was maybe a page and a half. Now it's a separate book. I'm sure A&E's lawyers have been VERY busy lately. |

All I can tell you is that morals clauses in entertainment contracts are serious business, and after so MANY shens over the years, they're pretty airtight. Now "advertising sales" might intervene and say, "we're making too much money on this" but eventually, the "no controversy" clause WILL get enforced. ANd I strongly suspect once Disney's ownership part in A&E gets to more people, it'll be Disney that breaks out that baseball bat. |
