Yes, they should.This is why I believe that political campaigns should be 100% taxpayer funded and lobbying should be legally curtailed to the extent constitutional. There is also the matter that even if you consider it wrong for a company to do that, they're going to do it anyway. You can't rely on so-called "good corporate citizens" to improve society. Of course, if consumers decide that a company should be rewarded for being a good corporate citizen, then that would be good for the bottom line and there would be no need for the government to get involved, but unfortunately it won't work like that all the time. |
