Exactly. The freakin' fundamentalists have everyone thinking that the Christian religion's concept is what THEY made out of it.

Satan HATES man..and will stop at nothing to destroy us...wither it be by natural means ,or UNnatural means...earthquakes,floods,even giant waves...whatever it may be.

Satan may hate all that is good, but he is not the one causing the earthquakes, floods, etc, either.
The Earth had all of these disasters: large waves, earthquakes, floods, volcanos, wildfires, millions of years before humans ever set foot on the earth. In fact the earth was formed in all this chaos. Why would all these disasters "stop" just because humans are here now? It's not punishment, it's the natural order of the earth. If humans never walked the earth, and the day Dec 26,2004 rolled around, a huge wave would have hit the location that is now known as Sri Lanka. Human behavior didn't cause it, Satan didn't cause it, God didn't cause it. There was a natural earthquake in the middle of the ocean that formed a huge wave. No supernatural phenomena involved.

This poor guy has got gays on his mind. Obsessed with them. They are everywhere. I suppose it is a take off on the Black Helicopters that most paranoids see.

The Pink Helicopters will come and spray him with fairy dust, and then he is going to have to start wearing a tutu, and that will out him to his congregation!

I find it interesting how the FIRST thing they did was neutralize the CATHOLICS with all that "bad priest" stuff so that no one would LISTEN to Catholics saying, "Hey! Wait!" :(

Only thing worse than a liberal to these charlatans is a Catholic. And I *love* taunting them with, "I don't HAVE to be 'born again', I did it right the FIRST time." Heh. But seriously, if there isn't LOVE and RESPECT and GOODNESS - and instead there's hate, division, war and intolerance, ANYONE who's spent five minutes with the bible knows that the TILT! lamp is lit on the game'o'state.

And STILL, these people got RE-elected. :(

THANK you for biting into this rail, brother! :)

I grew up in the city during its most decadent time - two words, "Christopher Street" ... when I was young, I had my doubts as to my own sexuality, but hanging out with the drag queens was both amusing and educational. I doubt anyone remembers 1970's "Rollerina" a Wall Street investment broker who'd skate around the village with a magic wand - really NICE people generally and very kind.

Homophobes are people who are hung up about THEMSELVES and somehow, rather than DEALING with it, decide to strike out against "queers" everywhere. A spiritual, or moderately well adjusted person would only be amused by it all - certainly not feeling the need to go on the attack. Compare and contrast with the Fallwells and other misadjusted people to whom "gay marriage" is a hot button issue. But every one of those who are SO obsessed about it really need to be measured for a gown and get it over with. :)

The *ONLY* people who really care what people do in their bedroom, with love for each other, is people who are scared POOPLESS that they're one themselves. Seen that sidewalk act *way* too many times. As long as the neighbor's HUSBAND doean't catch yas in the act with a longiron. :)

I'm reminded of a "no-tell motel" I'd pass on the bus when I lived upstate - it was on that road that comes from Route 17 and into the Lincoln Tunnel to the PABT ... somewhere on a cliff just before the loop de loop down to the tunnel headed towards the city - they had a big billboard outside their shanties - the usual "hourly rates" but in BIG BOLD MARQUEE letters on a billboard was, "Love thy neighbor - HERE!" Heh.

MY religion has taught me that God is a LOVING God, who gave the soul of his son up, so I may receive slack for my life's screwups. Condition is, DON'T do that again - kid, stove, did it FEEL good? But more than ANYTHING, it taught me that God is an ARTIST and a LIBERAL. God HAS a sense of humor - look around you! Heh. God is DIVERSITY - He created a complex world in just "seven days" ... and like any kid with a new toy, he spun it across the floor to see what it would do. And then He sat back and enjoyed all of the RANDOMNESS of his creations. Think any bible-thumper would UNDERSTAND God and REALIZE that God's TRUE message was "NEVER take life too seriously, and BEWARE of those who DO?"

Ummmmm ... the collection baskets will be coming around, let's all murmur hymn #12 ... :)

I won't tell too many stories out of school, but back in the early 80's, I was assistant Chief Engineer of "Family Television, Inc" and was responsible for a transmitter AND a 78 foot Gerstenschlager TV truck which used to belong to ABC News which travelled all over the country. I worked for Jim and Tammy, Paul and Jan, and in PARTICULAR Fallwell back then. Jerry *WAS* a coker, and had a strange passion for young boys. I'll leave it there, while resting my case. :(

He wasn't just doing his mama in the outhouse (as Larry Flynt was SUED for) but he was also ... well ... not my place to judge. But the theory HOLDS, just that you're a bit off. Abusive yes, questioning his sexuality, a RESOUNDING yes also. :(

I mean REALLY ... why on earth would anybody CARE otherwise? That SHOULD be between "them" and "Jesus" and nobody else's business. Unless you're a republican. I remember Ronald Reagan - "It's TIME to get the government off the backs of the people" (and INTO their bedrooms) ... :(

Latke are a REGULAR in this house ... can only get them "holidays" in the various stores around here (and yes, a VERY large Jewish community here which means that you make them at home since "storebought" is fey) ... and salt and sour cream is the ONLY way to eat them. :)

Hell, I remember when Knishes weren't square fat yellow jokes with "texture" ... they were just round things like kasha - potato inside, round baked crust surrounding. Tattie scones (if from a Scottish IMPORTER) are every bit as much a delicacy as Latke is to goyim. Heh. Ya really gotta TRY it ... imagine a sort of potato/flour baked thingy that's done like a pizza only the "pie" is maybe 6 inches in diameter.

8 slices out BEFORE cooking, and you get these wedgie things that are 3 inches or so from the point to the circumerence and 45 degrees of triangle to it, about 1/2 inch or so high ... as boring as they might sound, a plob of butter on it, perhaps a wee bit of salt if you're so inclined, and they're MOST intereting indeed. Though I *prefer* latke if I had to make a choice. But STILL the treat ... doesn't work well with sour cream. Heh.

But if you can FIND them in the states, WELL worth checking out ...

I *think* what the catch is in this thread is that people don't understand what you mean by "new age" ... I hope it isn't a concern about those "boutique" stores for white girls that sell "amulets, talisman and power crystals" ... if so, that nonsense is strictly bling for some kind of inner peace ... I don't think God would object, it's not exactly like "false gods made of gelt" or "worshipping selfishness" ...

But I think what everybody's grasping for, in order to get to know you better and understand that you're merely a responsible parent and a person of faith. They seem to think you're embracing Falwell/Tom Delay/Jess Helms rectal-crainal itch. Gotta FIX that, son! :)

Latkes though are particularly special - potato through cheesecloth, nice and almost "tater-tot" in consistency without the "ewwwww" and yet, wonderfully fired, with onion and a bit of love. It's amazing what commercial bastardizations have been made of knishes, latkes, kishka, and sadly, Kosher doggies.

Having been born to "Scotts/Irish" rewts, I actually DESPISE taters and have a difficult time eating them. Scones though, and latke, no problem! Go figger! :)

Well ... ya see? THAT is why I appealed to ya ... because you AIN'T nertz ... but the words, "new age" is throwing many for a loop - and as I said when I first flapped my gums, "religion" is between ME and GOD and nobody else. So, no sweat on that - I was just wondering why that particular "buzzword" was chosen instead of simply, the "ME people" or something others could get a grip on for "word" ...

As always, PEACE! And GET your butt out here to the hilltop when you can! FREE snow, and Venisson dinner (or REAL food if ya prefer) ... :)

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people.

--Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922 (Norman H. Baynes, ed. The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, April 1922-August 1939, Vol. 1 of 2, pp. 19-20, Oxford University Press, 1942)

I agree with your second paragraph.
