If they can get funding the MTA would most definitely be interested in overseeing the construction and operating it.I'd suspect that for logistical reasons, the MTA would probably be the lead partner in terms of paying capital costs, but, New Jersey Transit would assume the role of operator given that it's an extension of NJT's light rail system.It's similar to how Metro-North basically pays New Jersey Transit to operate the West of Hudson services, and while Metro-North pays for it's own fleet (or shifts cars from West of Hudson to East of Hudson as needed) but it serves in the NJT pool and receives service at Meadowlands Maintenance instead of Croton-Harmon. |
