For example, you stated that a rhetorical chant was "terrorism." Terrorism refers to using the threat of violence to compel a person to act in manner furthering your political ends through fear. For example, if I threatened to kill a legislature who votes for a bill I don't like, that would be terrorism. While terrorism may use an actual violent act (even a murder) to lend credence to the threat, it is fundamentally the threat itself that defines it as well as the political function of the threat. The rhetorical chant you posted initially was made by an oppressed group not capable of making any serious political threats to anyone. As such, the claim that their actions constitute "terrorism" is not even wrong— it's completely incoherent, as if I declared that I punched an abstract concept such as death. That you made a completely incoherent statement suggests you are not rational (see definition above) but I offered a few explanations for your statement other than your irrationality. Namely: 1. Are you a white supremacist? If so, then you assume black people are "terrorists" by definition because you treat their existence as a political threat to your supremacy. 2. Are you an authoritarian? If so, then you consider the protesters to be "terrorists" by definition because you treat any disagreement with the government as a threat to its absolute power. 3. Are you an internet troll? If so, you knowingly make incoherent statements not because you believe them, but rather as a quasi-joke or to fulfill a need for attention. Which is it? |
