Women have the legal right to abdicate their unwanted child via abortion. No, they don't. Women have the right to choose not to have a child in the first place, just like men do. If a woman is considering an abortion, then she does not yet have a child, and is therefore not abdicating responsibility for a child. She is choosing not to have a child at all. If she has the child, she is no less responsible for it than the father. Men do not have this legal right which leaves them on the hook for punitive child support payments. Taking care of your child is "punitive?" Seriously? It's called being a responsible parent. If you don't want to be a parent, you can choose not to be regardless of your gender. If you do want to become a parent, you are responsible for your child regardless of your gender. Simple concept. After all, if a father is awarded sole custody of his child, do you seriously think the mother won't be expected to pay child support? |
