I've been part of the NYC LGBT Pride March Committee for eight years now. We do such radical things as plan the annual March down Fifth Avenue, co-ordinate the many corporate sponsors, and review applications from those seeking to participate in the March, and the street festival at the end of the parade. I also host the stage show on Pride Sunday in Greenwich Village every year.Conservative Catholic League leader Bill Donohue has been making a big noise about the St. Patrick's Day Parade issue, and said on Steve Malzberg yesterday, that he wants to apply to our parade, carrying a "Straight Is Great" banner. (He also said he was "going after" Guinness for boycotting Monday's parade.) I told the rest of the Committee that if Donohue wants to carry a "Straight Is Great" banner in the March, that was fine by me. We haven't heard a peep out of Donohue since then. Just sayin'. |
