The reasoning for dropping the Lex stop along 34th on the M34 does not in any way apply at 86th. So that distance is added to the five or so blocks you are already walking so your total walking distance is now above the quarter-mile guideline of walking to a bus.But the MTA now reinterprets the guidelines so as onto include the distance you show on the map so according to them you are still within the guidelines. By that logic, they coud eliminate as many stops as they want to and the guidelines won't be violated. |

Since there are no longer stops at Park Avenue, you have to walk extra to either Lexington or Madison.The subway standard has nothing to do with the discussion and it does not apply at transfer points. The half mile is for the origin point and the destination point. You are not expected to walk additional distances at a transfer point which should be at the same intersection or one small block away where one way streets make a transfer at the same corner not practical. |
