It behooved the MTA to see whether New Flyer or Nova could offer a better product than Orion. Not to mention where the heck would you get the funds to pay for such a major purchase? Also, when you have such a big order it means that in the future you will need to replace them with a big order and have the entire fleet age at the same time which is awful for maintenance |

The first 270 buses would of been Orion VII 3G clean diesels, not 90. The upcoming order would of been the same 1300 buses anyway you look at it. |

With Orion going out of business who would have finished the contract and provided warranty services? The MTA wisely made orders from each manufacturer to be able to compare how each fleet would perform under the demands of the MTA. Do you want another DesignLine fiasco? |

Orion needed bus orders and this would of been a great deal for them. Besides, from what I heard, the Xcelsiors are having problems with their evaluations, which is why the 690 order is being delayed, Again. Despite teething issues with the BAE technology, the MTA never truly had any major problems with the Orion VII so far. Would they of bought as many as they did if they had? |
