When it comes to journalism, there is a bigger difference than the dictionary definition of an article.

Articles involve research and fact checking. It requires the citing of sources. Facts are verifiable by multiple other means. It should be unbiased.

An Opinion column needs little of either. It is primarily the opinion of the writer. Facts do not need multiple sources. Unless an accusation is being made, they're generally not checked at the editorial level. Opinion is ALWAYS biased to the writer's needs.

Those are the basics.

Your opinion columns have a consistent bias against the MTA. They also have a consistent bias against change, because you generally view it as negative. You opine that things would be better if the MTA just followed your suggestions, and your sour grapes at your suggestions to planning not being acknowledged or your ideas not being credited makes you sound like the kid in gym who was picked last for every game and was the first target in dodgeball.
