Yup, and you'll still have one or two foamers that will swear up and down that it can be double-tracked.

Funny that the MTA spent all that money for the Comet Vs and rebuilt GP40FH-2s to run on this service, and what's running on there but all power and rolling stock in NJT corporate logos . . .

It's a pretty long trip, and it's quite rural. Most of the stations between Otisville and Harriman are basically in the middle of nowhere. It would probably be more interesting if they had kept the old main line thru Chester and Goshen.

Now those 2 2650-series Stillwells behind the E-8 really speaks Erie Mainline. They had fabric-upholstered seats (green), closed vestibules and air conditioning.

Every once in a while, there would be one of those cars on the morning local to Wanaque-Midvale station on the Greenwood Lake Division, which I could see from my high school. After class, I'd rush down to Arlington Station to see it go back east in the afternoon.

NJT runs buses up to Wanaque (route 197); the Greenwood Lake line north (west) of Pompton Lakes is a rail trail IINM, while it's in less than industrial track condition between Mountain View and Pompton Lakes, through Pompton Plains (the NYSW makes little to no use of it now). Pompton Plains station is still intact.

That's not going to happen unless they connect that line to GCT via that proposed Tappan Zee bridge, presumably linked to a rebuilt Piermont Branch . . . if you like, you can imagine what a GCT-Port Jervis run would look like if it were electrified (this is actually the LIRR Manhasset Viaduct, but it's got a similar look to Moodna)

Well, you can thank Conrail for killing main line freights over the ex-Erie Southern Tier route there, and of course NS taking it over didn't help improve things either!! If you are lucky, the best you will get is a Hillburn Yard (Suffern) based local that plies the route during the week, and makes daytime appearances.

I admit, seeing a set of Thoroughbreds hauling a nice manifest over Moodna would be a shot and a half!! :-) Sad that will not happen!! :-(
