Probably for good reason. The stops are still accurate, just the transfer is wrong. Why print up stickers for one train? Big deal, just print up a little sticker that says (B) on it and cover it over. It's the same thing they do for the 142/143 strip maps.I have a video somewhere of you screaming about how there was a sign in Port Authority that says "(A) (C) (C)" and how it's the biggest outrage ever that this sign has not been fixed. I'm considering putting it up on youtube. |

Probably cuz it's not even noticeable to anybody except the obsessed. And I can't imagine a situation where somebody boards a 4, and uses the printed strip map to figure out how to transfer to the C.I also noticed the other day that the entrance to Times Square at 7 Av & 41 St still has the 9 on the stairway sign. Is anyone else outraged that this hasn't been covered over, and somebody might go down there and wait for a 9 that'll never arrive? |

The other night I was looking at some of the reports of the Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the MTA - and one report concerned subway signage issues on platforms, in stations, to/from buses, etc.Suffice it to say there are problems with many of the signs in the transit system, at the same the TA is a very big system with plenty of issues. The report was written in 2002 when some of the subway routes that we have today did not exist in the exact same form, but in the basic outline. For example one of the signs cited in the 2002 report as not correct, actually from today's point of view just happens to be correct. There are many changes that occur with the subway and bus routes (day by day, year by year) that keeping track of all of them is a huge task. While completely wrong signs should be replaced or repaired - sometimes to much attention to detail can lead to situations where the signs are wrong, because something changed slightly. Mike |

This may have been discussed previously, but the stop indicator strip maps on the R142/As on the 4 also contain numerous errors. Unlike on the 2, the overnight local stops in Manhattan and Brooklyn are shown. However, the transfer options at 51st, Bleecker and Canal list EVERY route at that connection- including the ones that don't run during the overnight hours.-51 STREET shows transfer to the E and V. Only the E would be available. -BLEECKER STREET shows transfer to the B,D,F and V. Only the D and F would be available. -CANAL STREET shows transfer to the J,M,N,Q,R,W and Z. Only the J,N and Q would be available. I've never ridden the 4 at the time it makes Lex local stops- at least not since the advent of the 142s- but wonder if Jessica announces the correct connections at those stops, or the ones shown on the strip map? FWIW, the 6 does seem to have the correct automated transfer announcements at those stops depending on the time of day. The V,W and Z are correctly omitted on weekends. Likewise, the weekend 2,4 and 5 correctly omit the affected lines at the pertinent locations. |

Since trains can be rerouted in all sorts of ways, the MTA would have to have all sorts of announcements recorded and programs available to accommodate rerouted or suspended services. |

The 2 has late night stops in Manhattan on its stripmaps? I haven't ridden a 2 train (even on the 5 line) in a while, so I don't remember, but the last time, I think it only had its express stops. But, as everyone else has said, Jessica does the correct announcements, even at Borough Hall, where during the late nights, "transfer is available to the 2 & N trains," but only the M & R are listed (in addition to the 2, 3, & 5). |

All trains are listed at the stops to ensure that if a 4 train is routed to the local at some other time, it will display any possible transfers. Such as when the 4/6 local to Brooklyn bridge/5 express to Grand Central G.O. was common. |

Would you really expect that?I remember when I used to ride the east side local regularly, the C/R would actaully do his job and announce at 59th that there was no service at 51st, and to transfer to E/R trains at 59/Lex. Remember the MTA is supposed to be trying to save money. Not catering to obsessed foamers. If it bothers them so much let 'em take up a collection and print the stupid strip maps them damn selves and donate them to the MTA. In return the MTA can re-establish the RFW in that one train. Sounds fair. |
