The other night I was looking at some of the reports of the Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the MTA - and one report concerned subway signage issues on platforms, in stations, to/from buses, etc.Suffice it to say there are problems with many of the signs in the transit system, at the same the TA is a very big system with plenty of issues. The report was written in 2002 when some of the subway routes that we have today did not exist in the exact same form, but in the basic outline. For example one of the signs cited in the 2002 report as not correct, actually from today's point of view just happens to be correct. There are many changes that occur with the subway and bus routes (day by day, year by year) that keeping track of all of them is a huge task. While completely wrong signs should be replaced or repaired - sometimes to much attention to detail can lead to situations where the signs are wrong, because something changed slightly. Mike |
