Nice photos.Those cars look nicer than the kinko sharyo cars we have her for HBLR and NCS. Still, better than nothing i guess. Did PCCs ever run on that line? I see it has hi floor cars, how high is the the floor from the railhead? NYCTA standard is about 3 feet 9 inches. A good design with those cars is door pockets(simpler), where doors slide into the body, rather than the Kinko Sharyos who have complex doors which pop out and slide, this is prone to failure. |

They probably still run 2 car trains more than I thought. It's just that's what they used to run nearly all the time. Lately I've notice 4-car trains on the weekend. I have to look now to see if it's red or purple and you never used to need to do that. Maybe it's because I normally go out in the middle of the day. They could just run the 4 car trains for a few hours for all I know. I've really only ridden the subway 1-2 times a month for the last few months. |

I saw one of the Breda cars today at about 12:40 PM, sitting idle on the siding in South Pasadena (near the Monterey Road grade crossing.) There was no numbering or any other decals applied to the Breda car, except for small "TEST TRAIN" signs in the windows.The car was still there as of 2:20 PM, and as far as I know it might still be there. On a related note, I noticed that Gold Line car #248 has had part of its yellow stripe removed -- possible repainting candidate? |
