Ah, yes. Well this was to be expected. Except I understood that the new tunnels *would* connect to existing NYP tracks, although I really did not see how that would be possible, what with the West Side Yard in the way and all.

Yes, the whole station sort of faces 8th Avenue.

But if there *was* a subway stop at 9th Ave, some peeps would go that way, especially if that LION went their way.

Still, this LION seas little knead four it: East Side: Take the (E), Downtown, take the (A C E). Something in between: Walk the Tunnel, it is not hard, nor particularly dangerous. Its only a few hundred feet long, (741 feet long, to be exact) so what is the big deal!

Hey it is 400 feet from my office to the dining room!

Exactly. Everyone knows that the NYCT system should be run by 1900s technology, as Nature intended.

It seems that that stuborn mind has only gotten worse during the ten+ years of Subtalk/Chat.

Cue Rail Blue, to show his picture of the one at Montparnasse-Bienvenue on tha Paris metro, originally two separate stations.

Well, I've found someone else's:

We also need one between Kings Cross/St Pancras and Euston in London, to facilitate transfers from Liverpool, Birmingham and Manchester to the Eurostar.

Definitely.

The money doesn't end with the initial capital cost, you know.

If the stations are air conditioned, the maintenance costs are probably far less than the energy cost savings.

Think about continued maintenance over the years (the difference between "spend money now or spend money later"). Initial capital cost is but a fraction of what the total cost will be; actual stations are not as maintenance-intensive and far more useful.

The maintenance through the years should be considerably less than the energy savings that the doors bring to a climate conrolled station.

That is correct. The big changes in that area are yet to come. Zoning changes are expected to add 20 million square feet of office space to Midtown West in the next 25 years. That will make the 7 extension not only necessary, but it will eventually be inadequate.

Lets hope that ATO is in operation on the 7 by then.

ATO, in its current testing state on the L, will not be used entering or leaving the terminal stations. There is no particular reason to see Transit changing their mind about this.

"Additional trains in the schedule" is going to be hard, what with most of the IRT operating a 'car shortage' supplement.

When I was doing IRT schedules, there were actually 2 dropbacks at T/Sq Qns on the Flushing Line in the AM and PM, and during the midday there was always 1.

Yes, it's still that way. Drop back two during the rush, drop back one during most other times, and drop back none after 2045, I believe.
