UGH i got to out and photograph this new GRAFFITTI !! hell they should have just left the old pain scam alone ! ------------------------- NEW UGLY  --------------------------- ORIGINAL MUCH BETTER LOOKING MUCH BETTER    |

Two trips to OERM in 2 weeks...have you gotten to operate any of the equipment?You saw two on the gold line? I guess we'll a lot more of them then. The "Metro" and "Metro Rail" is just like what's on the buses, except that the buses have "Metro Local", etc instead of "rail." That will definitely stay as that's part of the branding. I'm just hoping that they add some color to it. |

It costs me about $35 in gas to drive out there. That doesn't include any other vehicle operational costs.Honestly I thought that it was okay. Not great. The people were nice. They have some good reading materials and videos for sale. My only real complaint is that it's so far away. |

My take on all these white schemes is that the major reason is They are CHEAP!!!"Most of the color in them are Mylar paste ons. In paint shop terms it's a "No Mask Job". For example, if you have a black window mask on a white body, that's a "One Mask Job". Paint the body white, mask the window area and apply the black window mask. We will never see the great paint schemes of the 1930's through the 1980's again. :-( |

I'd say that our train physically looks better, but their scheme is ever so slightly better because of the small amount of color. Still as they are now, I'm not a fan of either.I will be very surprised if we don't get much more color added to our LRVs. The MTA is using color to differentiate the services in the system. On buses it's orange for local, red for rapid, and blue for express. The train branding was supposed to be silver. Maybe they're going to glue some silver steel panels to the outside of our LRV's. That'll make them look like the new Breda's. ;) |

So you would prefer to have San Diego's system over ours? We have two heavy rail lines and a light rail line that operates almost like heavy rail with 5-minute rush hour headways. San Diego has no heavy rail and their light rail lines have mostly 15-minute rush hour headways. They also pay much more than us for less service while you have been critical of any sort of increase for LACMTA. So in essence they pay more for less, while we pay less for more yet you call LACMTA cheap? |

ROFL LOL |

BUST A MOVE !! lets go the entire fleet needs to be ONE light rail car on all 3 lines |

Okay, I guess that I see although I'm not sure why you're "ROFL" at the failure. I would prefer to save money and have them work.There are many reasons why we didn't order Siemens "exactly like the others we have here". Most importantly we wanted cars that would work on all of the lines. We also wanted to get some of the modern amenities that have been introduced to light rail over the last 20 years. What I don't understand is why we order such expensive LRVs? They all come as single cars capable of operating independently. With the crowding that we have on the blue line and similar situations expected on both expo and the gold line to east la why not order cars that have operators cabs at only one end? Aside from the gold line how often do we operate single car lrv's? Almost never. Wouldn't it be a big money saver to have cars with only one cab? And how about cars with no operators cab? The blue line runs 3 cars most of the day. The 4 additional operators cabs are both a waste of space and money. |

Posted by salaamallah@hotmail.com on Sun Jun 24 16:52:04 2007, in response to Re: Easy i cant beleive the new LACMTA paint scam !!, posted by Easy on Sun Jun 24 16:36:06 2007. easy remember the original order on the lacmta blue linewith the Sumitomo Nippon Sharyo Japan P865 model Light rail vehicles 1989-1994 series on my many vists to the blue line headquarters main line yards which is the central repair for all light rail operations on site at the long beach yards and from heads of operations like robert johnson, retired freedie marlow jr, hector gutierrez, willard johnson all [ lacmta rail operations supervisors ] about twice a 6 months or at least every year i go there for my my i d badge and or new photographers vests etc... and i am able to get 1 of the very confusing many times scatter brains from the depths of a rail transit system that is suffering from amnesia !! coming not from those who are in charge of rail transit ops .. but higher !! from the inside all the operators there prefer the blue line rail cars Sumitomo Nippon Sharyo Japan P865 model Light rail vehicles 1989-1994 series and tolerate the siemens p 2000 - 1999-2000 to today etc... please note this ............................. and hate the new bredas the ones they have test operated !!! easy i do not have all the inside drag but i have a ear listening to the derailed inner tracks of the lacmta rial systems its a big mess easy |

I know that you talk to those guys. But whether or not the T/O's enjoy operating them isn't even part of the equation in deciding whether or not they are successful. According to the MTA they have passed their tests with flying colors. But then as you correctly point out, if that's true where are they? They were supposed to be in service late 2005 or early 2006. Obviously something must be wrong, but the MTA is quiet on it. |

At a cost of $2.9 million each, the 76-passenger, 54-ton, 90-foot long vehicles contain the latest in rail car technology, from advanced propulsion system and diagnostic equipment to greater accessibility for Metro's transit patrons. They will also be deployed on the Metro Gold Line's future extension into East Los Angeles, which is due to open in December 2009. So you would prefer to have San Diego's system over ours? We have two heavy rail lines and a light rail line that operates almost like heavy rail with 5-minute rush hour headways. San Diego has no heavy rail and their light rail lines have mostly 15-minute rush hour headways.In all fairness to San Diego, it's a much smaller metro area than Los Angeles, so it doesn't need as many rail lines as LA. What's more, they had a lot of their rail system up and running a good while before Los Angeles had any modern rail transit. |

LACMTA has i think aprox 73 miles of electric rail transiti got to look up how many miles san diego has & especially after the green line completed loop then you have to add the green line extension etc... kinda long ! is it really shorter than los angeles ?

Car 105 !! i cant beleive this same lrv railcar i photographed in 1990 !!! brand new then with the ORIGINAL paint scam and much more pretty!! i will post these photos tomorrow when i get some more time anyway i was out all day today and fired off a few shots mostly at ''wardlow'' station that i always seemed to miss except for today !! the bredas have all ben moved to the gold line yards for some reason
