We'll start off with a shot from the Robert Vogel Memorial Parking garage:

We boarded Regional #153 in Philadelphia which arrived at the BWI Airport stop about 15 minutes late due to a delay for a broken down train at Wilmington:

After shooting a few we boarded MARC train #683 for New Carrollton:

Kev snaps one off before we head for the upper level of one of the coaches

The tickets are printed on Amtrak stock. Are all MARC tickets like this?

Homer on the platform:

No wonder we seemed to really roll:

Acela #2212 caught me by surprise:

After about an hour off to DC on the WMATA Orange Line:

I LOVE the subway stations in Washington:

Fort Totten lower level:

Upper level:

I was hoping to see a CSX freight...but that fence hasta go:

What an entrance:

We rarely see these Amtrak end cab switchers in Philly. This is ex-Pittsburgh & Lake Erie MP15DC #1590, La Grange class of '75:

And this SW1000R which was also built for the P&LE as SW900 #8955 in 1952:

MARC train #488 should have us back in Baltimore in plenty of time to catch Regional #126 home:

Evelyn was asking the passengers how they liked the service & if they had any questions. I have NEVER run into something like this before...Good job MARC:

Arrival at Baltimore Penn was 2 minutes early at 4:38. Two items of interest showed up. First, the only Viewliner diner was on the southbound Crescent:

And we had new power on the point of our ride home:

We stopped at 30th St. dead on time:

After a few SEPTIC shots on the upper level:

I hopped on the same NJT consist that got me to Philly this morning. This is train #4687 scheduled to leave shortly after 7PM:

Thanks to The Legend, Kevin & Dave for coming out on what turned out to be quite the good day :o)

What, is he dead?

They were when I rode. Also they seem to have misspelled your name.

Nice pics!

Nice shot of Metro Center from the Glenmont platform.

The diagonal crossings of the arches in that station is the largest underground structure of that type in the world.

Some MARC tickets are printed on CSX stock. I assume that's only the case if you're buying at an office on the Brunswick/Camden.

IMO no but it depends on your definition of quiet. The SEPTA level is of course much more active.

Great pics! I would have joined you (I live in DC), but I had too much stuff going on on Sunday. Glad you had a good time.

That fencing between the Red Line and CSX needs to stay, unfortunately. There were two incidents early in Metro's history where CSX trains breached it.

All I can think of when I see the lower level is "missing SEPTA diesel service circa 1981-83", myself.

Of course, with the ALP-45DP now in service, it could be possible to ressurect these trains operating to/from NYP and even through the CCCT; but I doubt that NJT and SEPTA would get together on such a project.

This is the way I see it: Moe is SEPTIC to West Trenton (since SEPTA dispatches to W Trenton)....Larry is CSX to Manville/Bound Brook...Curly is NJT to NYP.

Why ask NJT or SEPTA to do it? You're a big fan of privately operated trains and CSX is more than capable of running service over those lines, right?
