Right ... wasn't until 1968 that he left and Shanker (who was Assistant at the time) took over. Whoops. :)

OK, you've piqued my curiosity. Just what is an 8-count burpie exercise? I'm afraid to ask if it had anything to do with belching.

Those had to be three-car AAs I rode on those two Sundays in May of 1967.

I remember seeing 6-car Ethel trains on Saturdays in the fall of 1967. After Chrystie St., when the R-32s took over base service on the AA, AAs were four cars on Saturdays. As Christmas approached, they grew to eight cars while Abbott and Ethel trains were 10 cars.

If it was around 6PM, that would be about the time when 4 car trains would be cut to 3 at least on the AA.

I lived in Wash Hts until long after the BMT/IND merger and midday and Sat AAs ran 4 cars. Late PM, midnight and all day Sun ran 3 cars.

Nope, continued well into the R-62A era (9 singles). Once the 142/142-As arrived, and the 4s 62s went over to the 3, they started running 10 cars (2 5-car unitized sets).

Of course, the 62A singles went to the 7 where they remain (for now).
