As someone who not only lived next to an el for years, but also lived right next to an elevated platform AND a curve leading to it, not only do you get used to it, something seems intrinsically wrong when you don't live next to it anymore.Now that's true. I had trouble sleeping during the 2005 strike. When the trains do not run, there is almost a subliminal realization that something is wrong. That's why I like to know when the train is being bustituted over the weekend, so I don't go through the day with this feeling that the universe ain't quite right. |
