Yep that was the old Spuyten-Duyvil Wye, a holdover from the Penn Central and early Conrail days, when freight still roamed the West Side (Empire) Line up until 1980 if I recall. The old tower still looks good and in good shape, and MNR C&S (Communication & Signals) Department make good use of it, and from time to time Track Department personnel do, with often during the week MNR MOW trucks parked outside it.

It is a better photo location than I ever expected. I knew from looking at it from my trains it would be a good spot, but didn't think my shots would be so good there. I gotta try it when the weather is warmer!!
