Hair-splitting. All street-track electrification in the US that I know of is single wire, including the South Shore in Michigan City.

Also, the new high-voltage wires in Boston South Station are single wire.

None of this answers the question of having to be "rebuilt". The Cleveland example says "no", what with both trolley poles and pantographs using it at the same time . . .
