From a previous message: "Interestingly, Frederick Douglass Blvd (what 8th Avenue becomes north of Central Park) continues 8th Avenue's numbering system."That is because the street was called Eighth Avenue BEFORE it was renamed Frederick Douglass Blvd, that is why the building numbers are the way that they are. There are several other examples of a street or avenue having been renamed (or a section there of), but the building numbers continue to use the "old" series of building numbers. Mike |
