I'm not sure of the direction myself, but I think you're right. I still live in the area near the old Clarenceville station (111 St):

Those buildings in the background still exist.

Here's another interesting photo showing the LIRR when it was an el at Pennsylvania and Atlantic Aves while they were digging the subway. That bank building on the corner still exists:
