The original Hamburg Bank was built in 1932 on the corner. The Gem theatre was in the middle of the block on Fulton between Crescent and Hemlock. I was working for the bank in 1954 when they purchased the recently closed Gem, tore it down, and expanded the bank taking up more than half of the block. I saw many, many movies in the old Gem in the 1940's an early 1950'sThe Earle was actually on Liberty Ave in City Line. IIRC it was on Liberty near Lincoln Ave. |
