A little off topic but funny you should mention scams by banks. Bank of NY was recently taken over by Chase. Chase's savings interest rate is about 1% higher than BONY. The only thing is they are keeping the old interest rate for ex-BONY depositors. When I asked them why, the manager said with a smile, we're grandfathering them in. When I said grandfathering is usually beneficial to the customer she couldn't answer. So if anyone out there has a BONY savings account you have to go in, and sign a couple of forms to get higher interest. |
