Bringing out the R16's from mothballs back into service when the R46's were having problems (I know it was an emergency situation, but still those cars were horrible performers)I was surprised to learn this when I was reading it on nycsubway.org some months ago. I've always thought that the R-16's were intended to be retired by the R-68's, not by the R-46's. |
