Lol, it’s interesting how the LIRR doesn’t see the value in reactivating the Garden City–Mitchel Field Secondary to better serve The Hub of Nassau County, but gets all googly eyed at the prospect of extending third rail to some cornfield in Yaphank.Stadler's FLIRT Akku battery-powered train has demonstrated a range of 115 miles, and the ranges for battery-powered trains are only going to continue to increase. A more efficient and expansive investment would be building battery charging stations at Greenport and Ronkonkoma, lengthening the platforms, signalisation, and reactivating some of the many unused sidings for bi-directional service. |
