The problem is, with the exception of Coram/Gordon Heights, the transit propensity of Mid-Suffolk County favors the areas near the Montauk Branch. I get the concept of “build it and they will come” in terms of the Yaphank electrification, but it’s not the most beneficial solution in this case, since those who will come would come from areas like Patchogue, North Bellport, and Mastic, which all already have underserved LIRR stations. |
