The problem was the design hadn't changed at all in the 10 years of the IND openings, and the incandescent lights. They just looked old fashioned.

Too bad the current "Day Light" type of screw-in LED bulbs weren't available back then.

What an eye-opener that would have been.

How many bulb sockets are in the R 1/9 car?

Maybe the Transit Museum could try and see what it would look like?
