From the pictures, it seems to me that the train was on the center track -- which would mean damage to both the center and southern track.

I'd expect longer than usual amounts of time in this case -- this isn't a run-of-the-mill picking a switch. That train had to have been moving way faster than it was supposed to be. Why it was moving that fast remains to be seen -- but a train running at track speed doesn't end up on the waters edge after derailing.
