Posted by tunnelrat on Fri Jan 6 17:40:26 2012, in response to Re: Abandoned Utica Ave Upper Level (Pix Coming Soon), posted by Dyre Dan on Fri Jan 6 15:35:36 2012. maybe 200 feet.if you go to the end of chambers st,downtown bound you will see a ramp,about 100 feet past the station look up&you will see a partial wall,thats the tunnel leading to the bridge tracks.it was built in 1910 by the dept.of bridges,not the brt.the wine cellar was featured on secrets of new york& photos posted here.its the storage space under the bklyn. bridge that was a wine cellar.I,ve seen photos of the bridge conn.showing both n/b& s/b cuts looking into&out of the tunnels.I,m probably one of the few rail buffs in the world[not kidding]that has seen them. |
