It's really sad when you look back in the history of the GOP to a time when our party had far more intelligent and strategic minds that could carry a concept to the voting booth. Now all it takes with the dumbasses that watch that talking lamp is being the most loud, outrageous, and stupid and they're guaranteed to win. :(Dubya fer krissakes. :( And back then, People Magazine was as bad as it got for leading the stupid. |

Scratch that, it looks like it's not true. However, I love this: "I'm a registered Republican. I'm a pretty conservative guy. I'm somewhat liberal on social issues, especially health care, et cetera, but I'd be leaving another party, and I've been close to that party ... I think that nobody is really hitting it right. The Democrats are too far left. I mean, Bill Bradley, this is seriously left; he's trying to come a little more center, but he's seriously left. The Republicans are too far right. And I don't think anybody's hitting the chord, not the chord that I want hear, and not the chord that other people want to hear, and I've seen it." and "Mr. TRUMP: I'd like to see major tax cuts. PHILLIPS: Along the line, for what the Republicans are talking about ?eight hundred billion or so? Would you go that far? Mr. TRUMP: Along the lines of that number, yes, approximately at that number, and could even be more. PHILLIPS: Health care? Mr. TRUMP: [I'm] liberal on health care, we have to take care of people that are sick. PHILLIPS: Universal health coverage? Mr. TRUMP: I like universal, we have to take care, there's nothing else. What's the country all about if we're not going to take care of our sick? PHILLIPS: Abortion? Mr. TRUMP: I hate the concept of abortion. I hate anything about abortion, and yet, I'm totally for choice. I think you have no alternative. PHILLIPS: Gun control? Where do you stand on that? Mr. TRUMP: If you could tell me that the bad guys, the criminals, wouldn't have guns, I'd be a hundred percent for gun control. But the fact is, if you have gun control, the only people that are going to obey the laws, are going to be the good guys. So the bad guys are going to have the guns, the good guys aren't going to have the guns, and what good does that do us? So, I'm not in favor of it." He actually HAS said what was attributed to People Magazine though, quoting it to People Magazine may be off, but he's reinforced those words numerous times over the years. But the Snopes thing is also correct. And I agree with what was in THAT interview. If you listen to the modern republicans and democrats, you either have to kiss one wall or the other completely. What pisses ME off is that there is no middle ground anymore, you MUST choose one crazy or the other. Fiscally, I'm about as far right as it gets, same for defense and protecting the public. As far as individual liberties, so long as you're not harming anyone else, do whatever the fuck you want. I'm not female, but as a Catholic I sure don't want to see anyone have to have an abortion but it's not up to me to decide, and I believe that between birth control and abortion, it's a privacy thing between a woman and her doctor and her body is entirely hers. As to marijuana, I smoked that shit, I don't believe it to be any more harmful than tobacco and it should be legal like alcohol subject to the same responsibilities of "as long as you don't harm anyone else" ... Barry Goldwater was my teacher way back when. He was a HAM radio operator and when I was a kid, I'd get to QSO with him often and we'd talk about all this. I *really* wish today's republican ASSHOLES would spend a little more time learning what republicanism was REALLY about ... it ain't like that anymore. :( |

Trump had a habit of loving to be on teevee before NBC gave him a weekly platform. Those may not be the EXACT words he used, but he has indeed laughed at how stupid the typical republican voter is. Snopes has a habit of being like Terrapin. If someone attributed it to People Magazine, then they will pay an Amazon "Mechanical Turk" (look it up) to go and read every damned copy ever printed, and if they don't find it there, judgement made yay or nay and end of story. They don't really dig any deeper than the literal.Yes, he's said that but after all these years I don't remember where I heard it either but I definitely remember him saying words to that exact effect somewhere in an interview. Snopes is useful indeed, and they do better research than Faux Noose, but they're every bit as much as a trusted "decision" as Wikipedia. They get it mostly right, but not always. |

I am in about 99% agreement with you.My only point of disagreement is that I feel we should close military bases and lower the number of troops. The military has become a jobs program for (mostly low income) Americans. However, we're really not training a lot for real jobs once they separate from the military. Either: a.) We should create some sort of Works Progress Administration with, let's say, 25% of our enlisted soldiers or b.) We should close 25% of our bases and reduce our troop count by 25% Also, I believe that the military needs to focus more on cybersecurity and cyber warfare. |

Keep an eye on what Trudeau plans to do in Canada. That's what we SHOULD have done. And I am in total agreement otherwise. I offered my talents to the military and they're such fucking idiots, they only believe that those who are fresh out of school have the necessary skills even though their textbooks are older than me. :) So I went to work for Apple instead, we're doing OK and LOL at the head of the CIA and the head of DHS getting taken out by a kid in Syria as reported earlier tonight. I still do some "spook" work and enjoyed watching Ardit Ferizi of Kosovo finally getting pinched in Malaysia and about to be deported here for his antics. Fingering him was a major job and rest assured that the military couldn't find him despite all the info we all collected on his sorry ass. Thanks to the GOP refusing to fund any REAL world threats, and instead pinching the budget to fill unnecessary manufacturing of completely unnecessary shit, we're going to be pwned by ISIS too. When we need to push a button on a nuke for reals, a flag will pop out of the silo which says "BANG!" :( |

By the way, this might interest you ... can't talk about that which I do, but someone squealed. Meanwhile, let's spend the taxpayer dollar on more fucking Ospreys. :(http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/20/technology/cybersecurity-firm-says-chinese-hackers-keep-attacking-us-companies.html?hpw&rref=technology&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=well-region®ion=bottom-well&WT.nav=bottom-well The one thing that concerns me after moving all the way out into nowhere is that there ain't shit worth blowing up around here. But we're definitely at risk should North Korea or Pakistan decide to nuke the US. A missile aimed at DC is likely to hit here instead since their shit is so crappy as far as aiming. The REAL threat is America losing their ability to take selfies and share them on Facebook immediately. THAT would cause civil strife. And every single industrial control device for our power plants, water delivery and the rest of our infrastructure is connected to the very same public internet with the same shitty operating systems you have there. Piss off one malcontent, and it can easily be all taken out in the heartbeat. I won't even get into what a "poor man's nuke" (a/k/a an EMP device) could do to us. But yeah, let's buy more Luckup. ![]() That shit's connected to the internet TOO. :-\ |
