Unfortunately popping the clutch doesn't really work any more with dead or drained batteries now that cars and motorcycles have electronic ignition. Popping the clutch only works if the battery has some juice, for instance when your starter doesn't work. |

If the battery is dead, you can’t move the car. It’s like starting a car without gas in the tank.I did drive for weeks with a dead 12 V battery. Newer models have more reliable 16 V lithium ion batteries for the low voltage system. |

I’m stating the fact that a car with a dead battery can be push started and back on the road by popping the clutch. Just as long as the ignition is switched to the on position. |

I know what you’re talking about, but this wouldn’t make any sense in an EV since dead battery=no power to do anything. It’s the equivalent of the gas tank. |

The cars I had when I was a kid were never newer than 1973. But a battery to be that drawn down would have to be too old or defective. This is imagining waking up in the morning after having used the car the day before. Not a long dormant car. I’m really not familiar enough with post 1994 cars to say it’s impossible. |

I found that out unfortunately on a road trip on my Harley motorcycle with my wife (actually fiance as it was before we were married) from Lake George to Montreal for a day trip. A plug popped out (I found out later from the mechanic) causing the alternator to stop and the battery drained. Somewhere about 30 miles south of Plattsburg on the Northway the bike stalled on a downhill so I popped the clutch, it started right away but a few seconds later it stalled again and I did the same. One more time but then I was on an uphill and couldn't pop the clutch. Plattsburg harley came down with a temporary battery to get me to their dealer while my wife sat in their truck while the girl employee followed me to make sure I didn't break down. I spent about 3 hours in downtown Plattsburg and then continued the trip to Montreal, had dinner there and that night rode back to our motel in lake George.I am thankful it happened before the border as it would have been a pain breaking down in a foreign country, especially that I don't know French!! |

What daily maintenance did Hertz perform on them?Sometimes I plug my phone in to charge (they run on batteries too) and it will tell me it takes a few hours to charge. Sometimes I switch the wire or the plug and it takes 35 minutes. Electricity is interesting. It might be the reason they put dryers on a special plug in north america. |

The only issue with this premise is the difficulty in shipping gas. Since those holes in the ground aren't connected to anything, you have to find extremely dangerous trucks with special insurance to shuttle the stuff around. This will be your issues and bottleneck. You'll have to go to a port or somewhere special to find it.People won't let that stuff near anywhere residential. |

Range may be slightly lower in a conventional vehicle during cold weather, but it doesn't matter as much because range is generally not a meaningful concept.
