I found that out unfortunately on a road trip on my Harley motorcycle with my wife (actually fiance as it was before we were married) from Lake George to Montreal for a day trip. A plug popped out (I found out later from the mechanic) causing the alternator to stop and the battery drained. Somewhere about 30 miles south of Plattsburg on the Northway the bike stalled on a downhill so I popped the clutch, it started right away but a few seconds later it stalled again and I did the same. One more time but then I was on an uphill and couldn't pop the clutch. Plattsburg harley came down with a temporary battery to get me to their dealer while my wife sat in their truck while the girl employee followed me to make sure I didn't break down. I spent about 3 hours in downtown Plattsburg and then continued the trip to Montreal, had dinner there and that night rode back to our motel in lake George.I am thankful it happened before the border as it would have been a pain breaking down in a foreign country, especially that I don't know French!! |
